Robotics & AI Advisor — the whole-farm buy list
Poultry: the ROVA|BARN (UKKÖ Robotics, Manitoba — US dealer Happy Farmer, PA) is the most credible autonomous coop you can actually buy, but at ~100–300 layer scale it does not pay for itself in dollars over 3 years. Its ~$17k premium over the best towed automated coop buys back only ~$6–8k of labor — what it really buys is freedom from twice-daily presence and rotation you'd otherwise skip. If that flexibility is the binding constraint, buy the ROVA 400 (or pilot with the $8,150 Micro); if not, the Mobile Chicken House Model 300 at $18,900 is the rational choice.
Other livestock: Nofence virtual-fence collars for goats, sheep, and the mini Highlands (~$269–349/collar + ~$45/yr) — it's the only vendor with goat/sheep collars. No vendor supports donkeys or equines (zebras included), so physical perimeter fence stays regardless. Gardens: FarmBot Genesis ($5,995) is a showcase tool, not a labor saver; Tertill is dead. Skip in-barn poultry robots entirely — they're built for 20,000-bird houses.

A self-fabricated 700-class barn pencils out at $27.6k–41.3k per unit (parts + shop labor) against UKKÖ's street price of $47.1k–53.2k — roughly 30% cheaper per unit at the midpoint. But the one-time engineering bill (design, control software, prototype rework) runs an estimated $30k–60k, so DIY only wins once it's spread across 3 or more barns.
What you give up by building: UKKÖ's warranty and support, their proven ROVA app, five years of field-hardening, and faster time-to-flock. What you gain: ~$15k/unit at scale, full ownership of the control stack (this dashboard becomes the real app), and no vendor lock-in.
